Product details
Coloured clay powder for creating structurally stable terrarium substrates
Terrano Clay Powder is a finely ground, mineral clay powder for creating natural and permanently structurally stable substrates in terrariums. It is used as a binding component to consolidate loose substrates and create a malleable, mouldable base that reliably retains its structure after drying.
By combining it with sand, soil or other mineral substrates, natural soil profiles, slopes, solid walking areas and areas suitable for digging can be specifically designed. The substrate can be compacted and modelled and, after hardening, has a stable surface that does not crumble and is particularly suitable for dry and semi-dry terrariums.
Terrano Clay Powder significantly improves the stability of the substrate and supports a natural look with functional added value for ground-dwelling and burrowing terrarium animals. The product is free from artificial additives and is ideal for use as a terrarium substrate. It contributes to long-lasting structural stability and a functional, balanced terrarium setup.

hint
For particularly stable and natural-looking soil areas, it is advisable to build up the substrate in layers and press each layer down lightly. By varying the clay content, different degrees of hardness can be created, for example, firm walking areas in combination with loose digging areas.
Recommended use
Terrano Clay Powder is added to the substrate as a binding component.
Standard mixture:
Mix approximately 1 part Terrano Clay Powder with 3 to 5 parts sand or soil.
The dry components are thoroughly mixed and then gradually moistened with water until a malleable, slightly damp mass is formed. The substrate is distributed, compacted and modelled in the terrarium. Once completely dry, the substrate hardens and retains its shape permanently.
Wet mixing:
Mix 1 kg of Terrano Clay Powder with approximately 400 to 600 ml of water until a homogeneous, plastic clay mass is formed. This wet mixture can be mixed particularly well into the substrate or used specifically for modelling soil zones, terrain shapes and solid retreat areas. Once completely dry, it forms a particularly hard and stable surface.
The wet mixture ensures even distribution of the clay in the substrate and controlled drying, and is particularly suitable for detailed design work in terrarium substrates.
Recommended substrate depth:
At least 3 to 5 cm, higher for burrowing species.
Material requirements as a guideline:
2 kg of Terrano Clay Powder is sufficient to stabilise approx. 60 × 40 cm of terrarium floor space with a normal mixing ratio and medium layer thickness. If the clay content is higher or intensive modelling is required, more material should be planned accordingly.
The substrate should be completely dry before the animals are introduced.
